And so we have another Battle On Sunset comp in the books! I want to thank everyone for coming out and supporting our event and to thank you all for the positive comments we received throughout the day! I also want to thank all of our volunteers. Hello all…I know this is far off, but Battle On Sunset 3 will be on Saturday, August 27! We’ll have the same Scaled ,Rx and Masters Divisions but this year we’ll also have teens! Not too many comps have a teens division so I wanted to give them an opportunity to compete and beast out along with all of you! Details about the event along with wodrocket will be posted in June.

My wife and I both work, have 3 kids, run our business and have been doing this for over 10 years! When people ask us how or why we do what we do. It’s these people and many more in our ohana that keeps us going. Even people that are no longer with us are still close to us and a part of our family. We’re a little gym in Antioch, but we have a huge family!

We’ve decided to close registration 1 week earlier as we’ve already reached the amount of competitors we were aiming for. We’ll be closing registration this Sunday, August 9th. WOD 2 and the WOD 4(floater) will be released on Saturday, August 8th. Thanks to all and we can’t wait to see you!!!

True story: Periodically, people ask me about the name of the gym because somehow, they don't think I look very Mad Dawg-ish. Shocking, I know. The name Mad Dawg came from me giving myself encouragement when I would ride up the "front hill" where I went to school (Fort Lewis College). The hill was short and steep, so at the crucial moment when it would be easier, and probably faster, to walk, I would say to myself "Come on, you're a Mad Dawg, you got this." (Technically, I was a "Mad Dog," but now I have to be a "Mad Dawg" because of, you know, domain name availability, I think you get the point. You are spell and grammar checking your inner dialogue right?) When you are struggling, do you have an alter-ego that you name your inner athlete? Do you have a secret phrase that you tell yourself? Do you count your steps in hexidecimal so you rest a little less than in decimal (another story for another time)? The reality is that you are going to self-talk, so why not make it solution-oriented? (Thanks to Leigh Anne Dennis for posting this)
